In the late 1800s, German immigrant and entrepreneur Paul Edward Werner played a pivotal role in transforming this small publishing town into a global center for journalism and printing. His success led to the growth of his company, which expanded to 22 countries and printed prestigious works like the Encyclopedia Britannica, along with local newspapers, The Akron Tribune and Akron Germania.
